a descendant of William Harmon Teaster

Harmon Teaster family around 1888

Dean Teaster and I are cousins and we are both descended from William Harmon Teaster. Harmon is my great grandfather through his son, Ransom. Harmon is Dean’s great, great grandfather through his son, Robert. Stories about Harmon have been passed along in both mine and Dean’s family lines. One such story was that Harmon had been killed in a sawmill accident. The details of this accident were fuzzy and no one seemed to know exactly where or when it happened. Dean has done an intensive and time-consuming investigation into exactly what happened that caused Harmon’s death. His investigation involved personal interviews, many telephone calls, hour upon hour of reading old newspapers and countless emails. All this effort has enabled Dean to knit together the actual story of what happened to Harmon. Dean has established this website to give access to this information to anyone having a connection or interest in William Harmon Teaster. Speaking for myself and our other Teaster cousins, I would like to thank Dean for all of his work in making Harmon’s story available for future generations.

(I have a family website that has additional information about our Teaster family at https://teastermckinney.com/.)
